Building Control

BCO contacts for Building Regulations approval across Surrey
Each district/borough council runs its own building control service. You can alternatively use an Approved Inspector (now called Registered Building Control Approver) - a private sector alternative approved by CABE. Both routes are equally valid. Surrey County Council does not handle building control for householder work.

The HER is the county's database of known archaeological and historic sites. Developers and agents can request a search to identify known heritage assets before submitting planning applications.

Dropped kerb and new vehicular access applications must be made to Surrey Highways (not the borough council). Works within the highway require a Section 278 or Section 38 agreement for new roads. Contact also for road adoption enquiries on new developments.
