HomeCalculators › Survey Cost Calculator

A home survey is one of the most important costs to budget for when buying a property - yet it is also one of the most variable. Prices depend on the level of survey you choose, the size and age of the property, your region and whether you add a market valuation. This tool gives you a realistic ballpark range based on those factors, so you can budget with confidence before you request quotes.

The three RICS levels cover the majority of residential purchases - Level 1 for new builds, Level 2 (HomeBuyer Report) for most conventional properties, and Level 3 (Building Survey) for older, larger or more complex homes. If your survey flags specific concerns, you may also need one of the specialist surveys listed in the sidebar. Not sure which level is right for you? Read our Home Surveys Guide.
