Fill in the dimensions for your job - length, width, height, or whatever fields the calculator asks for. All measurements are in metres and millimetres unless stated. Want a head start? Try a Quick Start Project Kit - pre-built job templates that load common specs in one click.
2
Adjust the waste allowance
Most calculators include a waste percentage field. The default is a recommended starting point - increase it for complex cuts or awkward layouts, reduce it for simple runs.
3
Click Calculate
Your material quantities appear instantly. Results show packs, bags, or units needed, plus the total area or volume for reference.
4
Add UK market prices (optional)
Click Get UK Market Prices if the option appears. This loads current trade rates and gives you a cost estimate alongside your quantities. You can edit any of the prices before calculating if your own rates differ.
5
Save to a project
Click Save to Project to store these results. You can create a new project or add the line to an existing one. You can save one project for free, or upgrade to a Pro account to store as many as you need with cloud backup and access across all your devices.
6
Print or export
Use the Print or Export CSV buttons to save your results. The print layout is clean and formatted for site use or handing to a client.
Your saved projects are under My Projects in the menu. Each project collects all your calculator results in one place - handy for pricing up a full job. You can freely amend any part of a project at any point. With a Pro account you can also send polished quotes to clients or material specs direct to subcontractors.
Greater London Borough
Greenwich Planning & Building Contacts
Home to Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Royal Borough of Greenwich combines exceptional heritage assets at the riverside with major regeneration at Woolwich and Charlton, set against the backdrop of the Thames and Blackheath.
Greenwich Council - local planning authority for the borough
Maritime Greenwich is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Development that could affect the Outstanding Universal Value, integrity or authenticity of the WHS - or the setting of its key viewpoints - will require a Heritage Impact Assessment. Historic England and the World Heritage Committee are statutory consultees for significant applications in or near the WHS.
Greenwich Council - Planning
The Woolwich Centre, 35 Wellington Street, Woolwich, SE18 6HQ
Maritime Greenwich UNESCO WHS covers the Royal Naval College, Queen's House, Old Royal Observatory and their setting. Around 30 conservation areas include Blackheath, Greenwich Town Centre and Charlton. Woolwich is a major regeneration area with tall building potential identified in the Local Plan. The Thames riverside generates specific planning considerations including flood risk, heritage views and accessible waterfront requirements. Charlton Athletic's stadium is subject to specific planning policy.
Building regulations approval is required for most structural work, extensions, loft conversions, new windows and heating system changes. You may use either the council's own building control service or a private Approved Inspector. For listed buildings, building control must be coordinated with Listed Building Consent requirements.
Heritage
Listed buildings, conservation areas and historic environment
Historic England - London Office
Statutory consultee for listed buildings and scheduled monuments
Maritime Greenwich WHS is one of England's most significant heritage environments. The Royal Naval College (Grade I, Christopher Wren and Nicholas Hawksmoor), Queen's House (Grade I, Inigo Jones) and the Old Royal Observatory (Grade I, Christopher Wren) are among the most important historic buildings in the country. Ranger's House (Grade II*, English Heritage), Charlton House (Grade I) and Eltham Palace (Grade I, English Heritage) are further significant assets. The borough has around 30 conservation areas. Listed Building Consent is required in addition to planning permission for any works to a listed building that would affect its special architectural or historic interest, including internal works.
Thames tidal flooding is a significant risk for riverside areas in Greenwich, Woolwich and Charlton. Much of the northern riverside lies within Flood Zone 3. The Woolwich regeneration area has specific flood risk management requirements. A Flood Risk Assessment is required for development in flood risk zones. Check also for Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) requirements.
