Post Mix
/pohst mix/
Also known as: Postcrete, post fix concrete, dry-mix post concrete, fence post concrete
Definition
A pre-blended dry mix of cement, aggregate, and additives used for setting fence posts, gate posts, and signposts quickly without pre-mixing. Poured dry into the hole around the post and activated with water, it sets hard in 10-20 minutes.
In Practice
For a standard 75mm x 75mm fence post in a 200mm diameter hole, one 20kg bag of post mix typically sets one post. The hole should be at least 600mm deep (one third the post length above ground). Post mix is faster than batching concrete but costs more per volume. Not suitable for structural or load-bearing applications.
