Lead Sheet

/led sheet/

Also known as: milled lead, code lead, lead flashing, lead roofing, BS EN 12588 lead

Rolled lead sheet used in construction as a weatherproofing material for flashings, valleys, soakers, flat roof coverings, and gutters. Supplied in standard codes (3-8) relating to thickness and weight per square metre.

Lead sheet code numbers relate to weight and thickness. Code 3 (1.32mm) is used for soakers; Code 4 (1.80mm) for step and cover flashings; Code 5 (2.24mm) for valleys and parapet gutters. Lead must be fixed to allow for thermal movement - rolls should not exceed 1.5m in length. Bossing or leadwork dressing is done with specialist tools. All lead should comply with BS EN 12588.
